What a text editor cannot show you
A table in a text file breaks in ways a plain editor renders as ordinary text. Here is where the difference is.

The questions worth asking
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. There is nowhere to upload it to: the file is read, checked and saved by your browser, on your device. Disconnect from the internet once this page has loaded and everything still works — which is the easiest way to prove it to yourself.
How large a file can it open?
Opening time depends on your device, browser, file contents and number of columns. Parsing is only part of opening a usable grid. Files over 250 MiB are rejected; smaller files can still exceed available memory or become slow. There is no paid size tier.
Will it change parts of the file I did not touch?
TSV and CSV export checks that values and row structure can be reopened. Downloads use UTF-8: optional quotes can change, and mixed record line endings become uniform. The dialog shows these transformations and blocks output that would change the table. You can explicitly convert quoting when offered, and ambiguous input requires you to confirm the interpreted cells.
Does it work offline?
Keep the loaded editor tab open to edit, validate, undo, save locally and export TSV, CSV, JSON, Markdown or ASCII offline. XLSX opening and export each need their own library downloaded on first use with a connection. Opening a workbook does not prepare XLSX export. Reloading offline is not guaranteed.
Is it really free?
Yes — all of it, permanently. There is no paid tier, no trial that expires and no feature held back for one. The guides and conversion pages carry ads, which is what pays for the domain and the hosting; the editor itself stays out of the way.
